Basic Bead Stringing

In this technique class, you will learn about the different materials and tools used for stringing beads. This will include the use of SoftFlex and crimp beads, knotting between beads and applying bead tips, and attaching cord crimps and a clasp to leather cording. Class fee includes all materials. This workshop meets once.

Bead Stringing

Bird Nest Hoop Earrings

These earrings are a fabulous way to learn a free form wire technique that Tara has coined as "bird nesting." You will form the hoop base and pound and file it. Then learn how to apply beads to your hoop base with 26 gauge wire and "bird nest" it with 28 gauge wire. If you love color combining, or wish you did, this is a great class for exploring and experimenting with your color pallet.

Bird Nest Hoop Earrings

Button Jewelry

Break out your button collection for this fun filled class that incorporates wirework and knotting techniques to make unique jewelry. Each student will leave with one or two finished pieces of jewelry and ideas for many, many more. You will also do a button swap with other students, so bring your collection in for this sharing.

Button Jewelry

Clover & Flower Components

Learn to create four uniquely beautiful components while acquiring a variety of wireworking skills. The first component is the Clover, which makes a delicate pendant or charm. Next, you will learn to make a Daisy Stone Pendant, which involves coiling wire around the framework of a large stone. From here, you will learn to construct a beaded Daisy Link. Lastly, you will learn to make a Swirl Bail, which is formed and pounded for strength and artistic flair.

Prerequisite:

Must feel comfortable working with wire and have basic knowledge of tools & their function.

Earring Clinic

Learn the basics to design eye-catching earrings. This is a design theory class and will cover balance, color theory and other design elements. Each student will put together several earring designs.

Earring Clinic

Enameling I

Students will create original enamel pendants and earrings with copper pieces they have prepared. To prepare the copper, students will learn to cut, drill, file and dome. Then, they will explore two enameling techniques including stenciling. Once pieces are fired in the kiln, students may attach pieces to chain or ear wires to create amazing jewelry!

Enameling I

Enameling II

Cloisonné comes from the French word meaning compartments. Silver cloisonné wire is used to create a linear design on your piece. Enamel is then filled in around the wire work, layered and fired several times. In addition, students will experiment with mixing colors and explore different ways of layering the enamels, which yields very interesting effects. At the end of the two-day workshop, each student will have created a beautiful, one of a kind pendant.

Felted Wool Flower

In this project class, you will learn the art of combining wet felting and simple bead embroidery techniques. Hand crafted felt flowers can be turned into pins, barrettes, rings, head bands and whatever else your imagination can conjure up! Come brighten up your day with a fun and color filled three hours. Includes wool roving.

Fusing

Learn the basics of fusing fine silver, a simpler alternative to soldering. Due to the nature of fine silver, no chemicals are needed in this process. The class will begin with coiling rings and learning how to use a jeweler's saw. With these rings, you will practice fusing (with a butane torch) individual links and then learn how to make chain. Once links are made, they can be hammered or shaped however you like!

Twisted Wire Necklace

Victorian Right Angle Weave

This gorgeous bracelet sparkles and moves as you wear it, displaying all the regal elegance and charm of the Victorian period. Its lacy pattern is made using a basic right angle weave technique that has been altered just slightly with the incorporation of larger beads, as well as seed beads. The width of the finished bracelet is open to interpretation. A button or several beads for one or more loop closures creates a gorgeous finishing touch to this design.

Must be able to thread a needle and have some experience working with needle & thread.

Victorian Right Angle Weave

Viking Knit

Learn to weave 24 gauge wire around a dowel to create a woven wire piece for use in bracelets, necklaces and whatever else your imagination can conjure up. Antiquing with liver of sulfur and how to tumble polish will also be covered. Once started, this technique is repetitive and goes quickly. Beautiful end caps will give the finished piece a very professional look.
